Fani Willis Says Someone Registered to Vote as Her in New York, as a Republican at Trump Tower. WSB-TV Reports New York Canceled It, and No Vote Was Cast.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D-GA) told WSB-TV that someone submitted a New York voter registration in her name that she did not fill out or sign. She says it listed her as a Republican, gave a Trump Tower address and a wrong birth date, and used a forged signature.

According to WSB-TV, the New York City Board of Elections canceled it as suspected fraud and told her no vote was cast under it. The identity of the filer is unknown, no charges have been announced, and the whole account so far rests on one local report.

§ 01 / What Willis Told WSB-TV

WSB-TV investigative reporter Mark Winne learned of it while interviewing Willis on another matter and saw documents in her office, according to his October 23 report. Willis says she found out when the New York City Board of Elections sent her a notice that the registration was being canceled as suspected fraud. The application, she says, listed the Fulton County Courthouse as her mailing address.

“It came to my attention that someone registered to vote as me in New York.”

She said she believes it was meant to harass her: “I’ve been threatened and harassed.” That motive is her belief, not a finding. The board told WSB-TV voting would have required identification or proof of residence.

§ 02 / What the Record Does Not Show

The Board of Elections notice has not been published. Hoodline’s rewrite of the WSB-TV report notes the open questions: no filing date, no case number and no filer. We found no independent confirmation from Fox News, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 11Alive or a New York outlet; the other coverage, including conservative aggregators and opinion columns, cites WSB-TV.

One widely shared post said the scheme “worked.” On the board’s account, the opposite happened: the registration was flagged and canceled before any vote. This page therefore does not describe a successful fraud, and it does not say New York’s process failed.

§ 03 / The Argument It Fed

By October 25, conservative commentators were citing the episode. RedState argued it shows why voter ID is needed, and the posts below tie it to the SAVE America Act. The posts are opinion, and they cut one way only. On Willis’s account as reported by WSB-TV, the episode shows that a registration can be filed in someone else’s name and that, in this case, verification caught it. Both can be true at once.

Democrats discover the importance of identity verification to register to vote and cast a ballot. Exactly why we need the SAVE America Act.

Tha real story here is how easy this was to do in New York... You can't seriously believe this is the only example either. Voter fraud is real. This is why we need the Save America Act

§ 04 / The Documented Willis Record

The registration is the new fact; the documented history around Willis is older. The Georgia Court of Appeals disqualified her from the Georgia election case in December 2024 over an appearance of impropriety tied to her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, in a 2-1 ruling. The Georgia Supreme Court declined to review it in September 2025. The case was dismissed on November 26, 2025, on a motion by Pete Skandalakis, the executive director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia, who took it over.

On December 17, 2025, Willis testified for about three hours before a Georgia Senate committee led by Sen. Bill Cowsert (R-GA); per the Louisiana Illuminator, former Democratic Gov. Roy Barnes represented her.

Who Handles What

NYC Board of Elections — Flagged and canceled the registration, per WSB-TV; has not published its notice.

Fani Willis (D-GA) — Fulton County District Attorney, the only named source for the account; her office is in contact with a New York prosecutor, who is unnamed.

Bottom Line

A prosecutor says a forged New York registration was filed in her name, and New York says it caught and canceled it with no vote cast. No filer, date or charge is on the record, and no second newsroom has confirmed the account.
