Harris to New Hampshire Democrats: “For the Last Year and a Half, We Have Been Pissed.” She Has Not Ruled Out 2028.
On Saturday, October 24, ten days before the midterms, former Vice President Kamala Harris (D) told volunteers at a Democratic phone bank in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, that “for the last year and a half, we have been pissed.” She was campaigning for Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH), the party’s U.S. Senate nominee.
The New York Post headlined it as a joke about cursing out the TV. Her own words, as other outlets reproduced them, were “pissed” and “throwing things,” not “cursing.” She has not ruled out another presidential run.

According to the Union Leader’s account, syndicated by Yahoo News, Harris spoke at a Democratic field office on Islington Street with Pappas, congressional nominee Stefany Shaheen (D), gubernatorial nominee Cinde Warmington (D) and Portsmouth Mayor Deaglan McEachern. Doug Emhoff was present. She later poured drinks at a brewery in Concord and joined Pappas for a podcast taping in Manchester.
“So for the last year and a half, we have been pissed.”

RedState reproduced a further line, “Some of us have been throwing things,” and the Union Leader quoted her saying “that phase where we felt hopeless and powerless is over.” She said the founders “imagined a moment that there would be a tyrant in office,” adding, “And this is that moment.” She did not name a person in those lines.
The core quotes are corroborated by the Union Leader text, RedState and a Fox clip. The “cursing out the TV” framing comes from the Post’s headline and a line the Post, as reproduced by a syndicated copy, attributes to her about saying things to the TV that people would not say where they pray. We could not confirm that wording from a transcript or video. The headline’s “depressed and angry” likewise could not be confirmed as a spoken sequence.
The Post also says she leads the RealClearPolitics Democratic average by 11.5 points. We did not find that figure elsewhere, so we cite polls by name and date instead.
The Associated Press reported on October 14 that Harris has “not ruled out” another run and is focused on November. In April, at the National Action Network convention, she said, “I am thinking about it.” She announced in July 2025 that she would not run for California governor. New Hampshire is third on the Democrats’ 2028 calendar, per the Union Leader, so a New Hampshire stop is also a 2028 stop. No outlet we read reports her addressing 2028 on Saturday.
In the Financial Times/Focaldata survey she leads Newsom 30% to 15%, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg (D) at 9% each. TheGrio reports Newsom has said he would not run if she does, a claim it relays secondhand, with no direct quote that we could find.
New - Kamala Harris endorsed Chris Pappas in the new Hampshire Senate democratic primary [link omitted; the account's report of the endorsement, not independently verified here]

Pappas leads former Sen.John Sununu (R) in two polls, 50–42 from UNH in September and 50–43 from St. Anselm in the week of October 19, and the Cook Political Report moved the race to Lean Democratic, per the Concord Monitor. The campaign of Gov. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) has tied Democratic nominees to national figures like Harris. Harris’s closing tour, per the AP, included Nevada on October 21 and Mississippi on October 22 with Scott Colom (D), and continues to Wisconsin on October 26 with David Crowley (D) and Georgia with Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) on October 28 to 30.

Kamala Harris told a New Hampshire phone bank that Democrats have been “pissed” for eighteen months, in a state that votes third in the 2028 calendar, and has not said whether she is running. The headline words that traveled furthest are the Post’s, not hers.
