San Antonio Police Arrested a Texas Man Early This Morning for Allegedly Threatening to Bomb a Turning Point USA Event and Kill CEO Erika Kirk.

Early Thursday morning, May 28, 2026, the San Antonio Police Department arrested Jacob Wenske, 26, of San Antonio. According to the arrest affidavit obtained by KSAT Investigates, Wenske is charged with two felony counts of making a terroristic threat causing public fear under Texas Penal Code § 22.07. His combined bond is set at $120,000. Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales (D)— Democratic prosecutor elected 2018, re-elected 2022 — is prosecuting.

The affidavit alleges three separate written statements, all attributable to Wenske, each targeting the same June 5-7, 2026 TPUSA Women's Leadership Summit at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter on the River Walk. The featured speaker at that summit is Erika Kirk — the woman who was unanimously elected CEO and Board Chair of Turning Point USA on September 18, 2025, eight days after her husband Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University.

Wenske is presumed innocent. Every assertion below is sourced to the SAPD affidavit and the warrant KSAT Investigates obtained directly, or to TPUSA's on-record statement. He has not entered a plea as of publication. He has not been identified as represented by counsel in public records. This page is what the warrant says, what the statute says, who runs the prosecution, and the operational security TPUSA is bringing to the Rivercenter eight days from now.

§ 01 / What the Affidavit Says — Three Statements, All Alleged

Per the SAPD affidavit reproduced in part by KSAT Investigates, the warrant rests on three written statements that investigators attribute to Wenske through email-account registration records and the timeline of when the Facebook reply was posted. None has been adjudicated. All are characterized in the warrant as “a threat of mass violence directed toward the event, attendees, hotel staff, and speakers, including Kirk.”

The pattern the warrant assembles is straightforward. The January email predates by approximately four months the April Facebook reply. The Facebook reply was attached to a post by a local San Antonio newspaper promoting the June summit. SAPD investigators — per KSAT Investigates' reporter Dillon Collier — followed the digital trail back through email-account registration to identify Wenske as the writer.

§ 02 / The Statute — Why It's a Felony, Not a Misdemeanor
Texas Penal Code § 22.07 — Terroristic Threat

Subsection (a). A person commits an offense if he threatens to commit any offense involving violence to any person or property with intent to: (1) cause a reaction of any type to his threat by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies; (2) place any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury; (3) prevent or interrupt the occupation or use of a building, room, place of assembly, or place to which the public has access; (4) cause impairment or interruption of public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service; (5) place the public or a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury; or (6) influence the conduct or activities of a branch or agency of the federal government, the state, or a political subdivision of the state.

Base offense. Class B misdemeanor.

Class A misdemeanor. If the offense is committed under (a)(1) — emergency-agency reaction. Or under (a)(3) — interruption of a place of public assembly, if pecuniary loss of $1,500 or more results.

Third-degree FELONY.The level Wenske is charged at. Triggered by (a)(4) — “causes impairment or interruption of public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service” — OR (a)(5)/(a)(6) circumstances that the warrant alleges. Two felony counts on the same defendant reflect two separately-chargeable communications, not the same statement charged twice. Bond schedule at $120,000 reflects the bench's independent review of pre-trial flight risk and public-safety considerations.

Sentence range, if convicted. Third-degree felony in Texas: 2-10 years state prison per count, $10,000 maximum fine per count. Two counts can run consecutively if the court so orders.

§ 03 / Who Erika Kirk Is — and Why She Was on the Receiving End

Erika Kirk is the widow of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, who was assassinated September 10, 2025 at Utah Valley University. Tyler Robinson was arrested in connection with the killing. Erika Kirk was unanimously elected CEO and Board Chair of TPUSA on September 18, 2025 — eight days after the killing. She vowed to continue her husband's work of high-school and college campus events.

Since taking the role, she has been on stage at TPUSA events with Vice President JD Vance (R) at the University of Mississippi, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Donald Trump Jr. at the December TPUSA national conference, with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt at George Washington University, and with Nicki Minaj at the spring TPUSA summit. The June 5-7, 2026 Women's Leadership Summit at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter has been on her public calendar for months.

Similarly, as of publication, FBI Director Kash Patel (R, Trump appointee) and Attorney General Pam Bondi (R, Trump appointee) have not posted publicly on the Wenske case — consistent with the case being prosecuted at the Bexar County state level under Texas Penal Code § 22.07 rather than federally. This case is not isolated. On September 25, 2025 — two weeks after Charlie Kirk's assassination — a separate Texas man was charged with terroristic threat for an online post about the UTSA Charlie Kirk prayer vigil. The fact pattern was similar: a public post on a social platform, a TPUSA-affiliated event, a documented threat, a Texas state prosecution under § 22.07. The September UTSA case and the May 28 Wenske case share both a geographic jurisdiction and a target archetype.
