Pirro Confirms a Probe of Ilhan Omar’s Financial Disclosures as Relatives Are Reportedly Subpoenaed and a 2019 Birth-Year Correction Surfaces
Two days after federal agents searched her home, new reporting adds two developments to the federal inquiry into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and surfaces one separate records question. U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro, a Trump appointee, confirmed on Fox News that her office is investigating Omar’s financial disclosures. The New York Times reported grand jury subpoenas to Omar’s relatives. And a Minnesota state library page notes that her staff were working in 2019 to correct her listed birth year.
No charges have been reported, and Omar is presumed innocent. We covered the raid and the 2022 Democratic reaction in our earlier report. This page covers what came after and sorts what is on the record from what rests on anonymous sources. No source we found says federal investigators are examining the birth-year record; it is a separate documented item.

Omar’s 2024 disclosure, filed in May 2025, valued two firms tied to her husband at a combined $6 million to $30 million: eStCru LLC, a California winery, and Rose Lake Capital LLC, a D.C. venture firm. A year earlier the same pair was in the $15,000 to $51,000 range, per Fox News. She amended the filing this spring; her office says the original forms failed to account for liabilities. Fox notes disclosure forms report ranges, not exact net worth.
On Fox’s “America Reports” on Oct. 13, host John Roberts asked Pirro about the disclosures. She answered that it “is subject of an investigation as well,” adding: “We’re looking at the facts. Based upon the facts, we’ll follow them wherever they take us.” Asked whether it was her office doing this, she said, “Yep,” per the Legal Insurrection transcript of the interview. Pirro did not say which filings are at issue.
If a crime was committed, DOJ will prosecute it.
The record also cuts the other way. The Office of Congressional Conduct voted 5 to 1 in September to recommend dismissal of the allegations, which Omar’s office calls vindication, per Fox. The Times reported that a DOJ inquiry into her finances was opened in June 2024 under the Biden administration, as relayed by the Daily Wire. House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) requested records from both firms in February.
The DOJ and Congress are looking at Congresswoman Ilhan Omar… Time will tell all.
President Trump's January post, quoted in part; text between the two fragments is omitted. His October remarks, as relayed by RedState from an Oct. 13 Rapid Response 47 video, questioned the size of the reported jump.
The Times reported that a federal grand jury issued subpoenas to Omar’s relatives, citing people familiar with the investigation: “A sister of Ms. Omar’s, Sahra Noor, received a subpoena, as did at least one other member of her family circle,” as quoted by RedState. Noor did not reply to requests for comment. Fox says it has also learned that subpoenas were sent to multiple family members.
Fox and the Times report the focus is whether Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, omitted or misstated information on immigration forms before naturalizing. The records sought have not been described. Newsweek, relaying the Times, says the search warrant cites alleged false statements, document fraud and conspiracy; Newsweek has not seen the warrant. The Times also reported that earlier immigration inquiries ended without charges.
I'm ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be…
This one rests on a public record. The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library lists Omar’s birthday as Oct. 4, 1982, with the note: “Her birth year is correct. It is incorrectly reported as 1981 in other sources.” The page adds that as of May 24, 2019, her congressional staff were working with Wikipedia and the U.S. House to correct it. The library’s director, in an email relayed by RedState, said staff were first informed of the error on May 17, 2019.
The New York Post, whose emails with the library were relayed by RedState, the Daily Wire and Breitbart, reported the exchange on Oct. 13. RedState titles its piece a possible “cover-up.” That is its framing, not a finding. The documented fact is an effort to correct the year to 1982; we have not seen the emails or any naturalization record. Omar has said she became a citizen before turning 18, which is why the year draws attention. No response from her office on this item has been reported.
On the record: Pirro’s on-air statement, as transcribed by Legal Insurrection, Omar’s own disclosure forms and amendment, the Minnesota library page, and the Office of Congressional Conduct vote. Anonymous or partisan-outlet only: the subpoenas, the warrant’s contents, and the immigration focus. No source we found connects the finance probe to the search, or the birth-year record to either.
Which filings Pirro’s office is examining, and whether a referral exists.
What the subpoenas demand, and who besides Noor received one.
Whether any charge follows from any of these inquiries.
“We're looking at the facts. Based upon the facts, we'll follow them wherever they take us.”
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, Fox News, Oct. 13, 2026
The bottom line: a sitting member of Congress is the subject of a reported federal inquiry into her finances, which the prosecutor has confirmed on the record, and a reported inquiry into her family’s immigration records, which rests on anonymous sources. Separately, a public record shows her staff worked to correct her birth year. Her husband’s firms have been the subject of earlier reporting on this site. Omar is presumed innocent, and we will update this page as the record moves.
